Evaluating Welsh Government Funded Community Support Officers

The Welsh Government have commissioned UPSI to evaluate the impact of their additional 500 Community Support Officers whose deployment is ongoing across police forces in Wales.  Our evaluation will involve the collection of primary data from selected communities within Wales, as well as bringing together a range of survey and administrative data from police forces and the national Crime Survey for England and Wales.  Together it will provide a comprehensive picture of CSO activity and public perceptions of this form of policing.  We will report on any impact that the additional Welsh Government investment has over the next 18 months on making communities feel safer and tackling perceptions of crime and anti-social behaviour.
